Not a company anymore, but a brand?

ENG: Atlus will be dissolved, so the official statement of Index Holdings. Atlus is a Japanese game developer and is known for games like the Shin Megami Tensei-series (and their spin-offs), Trauma Center, etc.

DE: Atlus wird aufgelöst. Dies lies heute (bzw. gestern) Index Holdings verkünden, die Mutterfirma von Atlus. So wird es die Firma Atlus nicht mehr geben, aber dennoch als “Markenname” betrieben. Die japanische Spielefirma ist unter anderem bekannt für die Shin Megami Tensei-Reihe (sowie deren Spin-offs wie z.B. Persona, etc.) und Trauma Center.

ENG: Back in 2006 they were purchased by Index Holdings. 2009 was a really bad year for Atlus and they lost a lot of money, around ¥2.400 billion. I guess this is Index Holdings answer for them to not lose any more money. They want to have a direct control about them, so on the 1st of October the game company will be merged with Index, which is known for mobile games and another daughter company of Index Holdings.

I can’t say I’m all too happy with those plans. So far it’s said they’ll release announced games, such as Catherine, in the future despite the merging and Atlus will live on as a name. The American branch of Atlus hasn’t said anything official regarding this issue yet. Forum admins of Atlus USA said that this is not going to affect their work. We’ll see about that, huh.

DE: Im Jahre 2006 wurde Atlus bereits von Index Holdings aufgekauft, 2009 lief für Atlus ziemlich schief und sie machten einen Verlust von ungefähr ¥2.400 Milliarden. So musste Index Holdings weitere rießen Verluste verhindern und versucht Atlus nun unter direkter Kontrolle zu haben. Dafür wird Atlus mit Index fusioniert und zwar am 1. Oktober. Index ist eine weitere Tochterfirma und stellt Handyspiele her. Kennt ihr Persona 3 Social? Ein Handyspiel, angelehnt an Persona 3 und mehr oder weniger ein Projekt von Index.

Atlus USA hat bisher kein offizielles Statement abgeben, nur die Admins vom Forum gaben bekannt, dass das alles wohl keine Auswirkungen auf sie haben wird. Pfft, im Ernst Leute? Das kann ich mir nicht so wirklich vorstellen. Wie man sieht bin ich nicht glücklich über die Fusionierung. Ob SMT, Persona und desgleichen wirklich so bestehen bleibt und überhaupt fortgesetzt wird ist unklar. Zumindest wird uns versprochen, dass das angekündigte Spiel Catherine (XBox 360, PS3) trotzdem erscheinen wird.
